A number of Allied Health Services are provided at the Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service as follows:
The Speech Pathologist is available 5 days a week. A referral from your General Practitioner is required before an appointment can be made. An EPC Referral is required prior to consult.
Ellie is our Dietitian at the AMS and is available Monday to Thursday.
Ellie can help with all aspects of diet and nutrition but specialises in weight management, chronic disease (diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol etc) and food intolerances.
You may be eligible for bulk-billed appointments with Ellie if you have a referral through a GP Management Plan (EPC) or Aboriginal health check (715). Otherwise there is a cost of $80 for an initial appointment and $50 for follow-up appointments. Ellie is also able to see clients with approved NDIS funding.
Adult & Child counselling services are available 2 days per week
Who can the counsellor see?
Aboriginal Children up to the age of 18yrs.
How to book an appointment:
- Book an appointment with a GP requesting a "Mental Health Plan"
- After the Mental Health Plan" is complete, a referral is sent to the counsellor who will contact you for an appointment, the first two session are with the parent or carer only, as their perception of their child in care is important information prior seeing the child or adolescent.
- Children/ Adolescents experiencing the following: School refusal, bullying, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, separation anxiety, anger management, jealousy, fear, parenting strategies and other.
- All sessions are kept strictly confidential and will not be released without consent, unless there is a violation of codes of abuse, harm to self and others.
